The upcoming month is promising to be very exciting! It starts in Nantes at the festival La Folle Journée, where I will be performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Sinfonia Varsovia under Andris Poga. Our performance on 1 February will be broadcast live at 18:10 on www.arte.tv.
This is my first visit to La Folle Journée, a festival that is a delight for both musicians and audiences alike.
On 28 February, I embark on a tour of Japan with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse under Tugan Sokhiev performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. This tour will mark our first collaboration and I am absolutely thrilled to join them! Also, it is of course always a pleasure to perform in Japan and I look forward to returning to some of my favourite halls such as Aichi Arts Center, Nagoya, Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall and Tokyo Electron Hall Miyagi in Sendai, and very pleased to finally discover the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Returning to the Electron Hall for the first time since the earthquake of March 2011 means a lot to me and I feel very privileged to play for the people from this region.
Further ahead, I will travel to Atlanta to perform a recital featuring works by Chopin and Prokofiev at the Roswell Arts Center and finally return to my home city of Munich for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with the Munich Symphony Orchestra under Olivier Tardy.
